Intro to Short Constructed Responses (SCR)
$5
Writing activity · Grades 3–10 · PowerPoint (10 slides) + PDF (14 pages), ZIP · $4
Students draw for two minutes, pass to the right and build on a classmate's work: a character, an accessory, a setting, something the character wants and an obstacle in the way. When the last round ends, every student holds a ready-made story idea, and the writing starts itself.
The slide deck runs the whole activity with a slide for each round, plus look-closely, writing and sharing slides. The printables include drawing sheets, a Story Spine planner, a five-sentence story frame, a full story page, 32 Story Spark cards for students who freeze up, gallery walk slips and a rubric.
It teaches the core of every story: a character who wants something, an obstacle in the way and a change at the end. Perfect for a first-week icebreaker, a creative writing day or sub plans.
Topics: slides, powerpoint, presentation, elementary, middle, school, high, grade, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
