Irony & Its Types

Irony & Its Types

Lesson · Grades 7–10 · Slides · $3

A quick slide lesson that introduces irony and its three types: verbal, situational and dramatic. I use it with grades 7-10 before a story where irony carries the plot.

Students start with a warm-up (what do you think irony means, with an example from a movie, book or their life). Then you go through the definition and example slides together.

What's included

  • Lesson goal slide
  • Warm-up question slide
  • Definition slide
  • Example slides for the types of irony

How teachers use it

  • Mini-lesson before "The Gift of the Magi," "The Necklace" or similar stories
