The focus standard is RI.6.4 (word meanings (technical, figurative and connotative); TEKS 6.2(B), 6.2(C), 6.9(D)). Every pack also builds central idea, inference, text evidence and critical thinking, with an original second source to integrate and a Four Corners debate on: "Is exploring the deep ocean more important than exploring outer space?"
