Writing Interactive Notebook: 27 Hands-On Writing Lessons (Grades 3–8, Sentences to Essays, CCSS + TEKS)
Interactive notebook · Grades 3–8 · ZIP: PDF (161 pages) + editable PowerPoint · $12
Teach writing from the word up. Students start with word choice (dead words, vivid verbs, show don't tell), build better sentences with a color-coded who / did what / where / when / why / how system, then move through every paragraph type: short constructed response (RACE), narrative, descriptive, sequence, compare and contrast, problem and solution, cause and effect, and opinion and argument, before bridging from paragraph to essay.
Every lesson has a teacher page with steps, under-the-flap notes, a grades 3–4 support and a grades 7–8 challenge, a cut-and-fold template, an original model paragraph to close-read with an answer key, and a Write It page for each paragraph type. Part 4 teaches revising (ARMS), editing (CUPS), peer conferences and publishing.
Aligned to Common Core (grades 3–5 and 6–8) and to the CURRENT Texas ELAR TEKS adopted in 2017, so the codes match what Texas teachers see today. Editable PowerPoint templates are included.
