Article of the Week: 30 Nonfiction Articles + Activity Packs + Slide Decks (Grade 6, CCSS RI + TEKS)

Article of the Week: 30 Nonfiction Articles + Activity Packs + Slide Decks (Grade 6, CCSS RI + TEKS)

Curriculum bundle · Grades 6 (great for 5–7) · PDF + PowerPoint, 6 ZIPs · $39

Make nonfiction the best part of the week. Each original article grabs middle schoolers with a real, recent story (a newly named dinosaur, sea turtles nesting where they never have before, the Moon shrinking, monarchs tracked by radio tag, a dwarf planet beyond Pluto, the World Series, this year's chemistry Nobel) and builds the skills that matter most: central idea, inference, text evidence and critical thinking.

Every article comes in an on-level and a modified version with matching paragraph numbers and headings, so the whole class can discuss the same evidence. Each week also zooms in on one focus standard (RI.6.1 through RI.6.9, with matching Grade 6 TEKS) with its own Skill Focus page, and every article has a ready-to-teach PowerPoint with a hook, Stop and Think checkpoints, a Part A/Part B evidence demo, a Four Corners debate, an exit ticket and a teacher script in the speaker notes.

Facts are checked against the sources listed with each article. Students also practice integrating sources with an original Source 2 (data tables, timelines, opinion pieces and clearly labeled fictional accounts), plus a cold-read pre-test, midterm and final with a class tracker to show growth.

Each article is also sold individually for $3, so the bundle saves you more than half.
