Tone & Mood Full Lesson & Worksheet
Lesson bundle · Grades 7–10 · Slides, PDF · $4.99 or included with All-Access
Kids mix up tone and mood constantly, so I built this to pull them apart. Tone is the author's attitude; mood is what the reader feels. It works for grades 7-10.
The slides give clear definitions, sample sentences for four moods (joyful, gloomy, tense, peaceful), and a practice passage you can work through together. Then students move to the worksheet.
The worksheet has three parts. In Part A they name the tone and mood of five short passages. In Part 2 they write their own passages for three tone and mood pairs. Part 3 is five multiple-choice items in a STAAR-style format.
