ECR Prompts for "The Most Dangerous Game"
Writing lesson · Grades 8–10 · PDF + slides · $4 or included with All-Access
These are five extended constructed response prompts for Richard Connell's "The Most Dangerous Game," covering the three ECR modes students see on STAAR. They're for grades 8-10.
There are two argumentative prompts (can taking a life for sport ever be justified, and does Rainsford become as savage as Zaroff), one correspondence prompt (write to the authorities as Rainsford), and two informational prompts (how setting builds mood and tone, and civilization versus savagery).
Put the slides up to introduce the prompts, then hand out the doc for students to choose from or assign.
