The Most Dangerous Game: Discussion Questions for After Reading
Discussion · Grades 9 · Slides + worksheet + PDF · $4 or included with All-Access
These are the 10 questions I use once my class finishes "The Most Dangerous Game." They move from gut reaction to character, setting, suspense, symbolism, and what Connell is saying about human nature. Built for 9th grade but works for 8-10.
Put one question per slide on the board and let small groups talk, or hand out the question list and have them write first. Questions include how Rainsford and Zaroff differ on hunting, whether Rainsford was justified at the end, three moments that built suspense, what the "game" symbolizes, and an alternate-ending prompt.
The teacher copy has sample answers for every question, so you know what to listen for.
