ECR Prompts for "The Lady, or the Tiger?"
Writing prompt · Grades 7–10 · Google Docs · $2.5 or included with All-Access
Extended constructed response prompts for Frank R. Stockton's "The Lady, or the Tiger?" Each one is built for a different essay type, so students get practice in more than one mode.
In the correspondence prompt, students write a letter to the king about his justice system and suggest a fairer one. The argumentative prompt asks them to take a stance on whether the king's system is ethical, using the text and real-life examples. The informational prompt has them explain why Stockton left the ending unresolved and what that ambiguity does to the reader.
