Writing activities · Grades K–2 · PDF, 278 pages · Free
Young writers already know how to do lots of things. How-To Writing Quests turns that know-how into clear, step-by-step writing. Every topic shows four picture steps, and students tell how to do it using order words: First, Next, Then and Last.
Each of the 25 topics comes in five formats, so the whole class writes about the same thing at the level that fits each writer: picture steps on big primary lines, picture steps on regular lines, a paragraph page on big lines, a paragraph page on regular lines, and a foldable how-to book (big or regular lines) with a cover, four step pages and a "The End!" page.
Every topic also has its own word bank of 16 words plus order words, and a kid-friendly My How-To Checklist that students use to check their title, order, capitals and periods. Everything is black and white, so students can color the pictures, and it's print and go.
